Speaking From Your Position in Christ
Core Truth
Authority is released through words spoken in faith. What has been given by position must be enforced by confession.

Teaching
Authority does not function automatically. Although authority has already been given to the believer through Jesus Christ, it must be exercised. Scripture consistently shows that authority is exercised through spoken words.
From the beginning, God established the principle that words carry authority. Creation itself was framed by spoken command. Throughout Jesus’ ministry, He demonstrated authority not by praying for situations to change, but by speaking directly to them. Storms were commanded. Sickness was addressed. Demons were rebuked. Mountains were spoken to.
Jesus taught clearly that faith works through speaking. In Mark 11, He said that the one who says to the mountain, believes what they say, and does not doubt will see results. Believing without speaking leaves authority unenforced. Faith must be expressed in words for authority to operate.
Words do not create authority, authority gives words power. When a believer speaks in agreement with God’s Word, those words are backed by heaven. Authority is not about volume or emotion; it is about position. A believer speaks not trying to convince God, but enforcing what God has already established.
Many believers pray asking God to do what He has already instructed them to speak to, resist, or command. Authority must be exercised, not requested. When Scripture assigns responsibility to the believer, praying instead of acting becomes misplaced faith.
Scripture teaches that life and death are in the power of the tongue. This means believers are either reinforcing truth or agreeing with circumstances. What you consistently speak aligns you with either faith or fear. Authority functions where there is agreement with God’s Word.
What is tolerated remains. What is spoken against in faith must move. Authority is exercised when believers speak intentionally, consistently, and confidently from their position in Christ.
Prayer
Father, thank You that You have given me authority through Jesus Christ. I choose to align my words with Your Word. I will no longer speak from fear or circumstance, but from my position in Christ. I speak in faith, and I exercise the authority You have already given me. Amen.
Personal Reflection
- What situations in my life have I been thinking about but not speaking to?
- Are my words more aligned with my circumstances or with God’s Word?
- Where do I need to stop praying and begin speaking in faith?
Application
This week, identify one specific area of your life and intentionally:
- Speak God’s Word aloud daily
- Reject contradictory thoughts verbally
- Replace passive language with faith-filled declarations
Write down what you will begin speaking and commit to exercising authority consistently.
