Teaching
Authority is only effective when it is understood and exercised. Many believers know Jesus has authority, but they do not realize that He delegated that authority to the believer.
Jesus did not retain authority for Himself alone. After His resurrection, He said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” and, then He immediately sent believers out to act in His name. Authority flows through delegation, not effort.
The believer’s authority operates the same way authority works in the natural realm. A police officer does not stop traffic because of physical strength, but because of delegated authority. When a believer speaks in alignment with God’s Word, heaven backs that authority.
Romans teaches that believers are called to reign in life through Jesus Christ. Reigning is not passive. It means taking responsibility, resisting what opposes God’s will, and refusing to tolerate what Jesus already defeated.
Many believers pray asking God to intervene, when Scripture teaches that the believer is instructed to resist the devil, command mountains, and stand firm. Authority must be exercised intentionally. What you tolerate will remain. What you confront in faith must move.
Understanding authority shifts the believer from a survival mindset to a rulership mindset. We do not beg heaven for victory we enforce what heaven has already declared.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the authority You have given me through Jesus Christ. I choose to exercise that authority in alignment with Your Word. I will no longer tolerate what You have defeated. I reign in life through Christ, and I walk in boldness, clarity, and faith. Amen.
Personal Reflection
In what areas of my life have I been passive instead of exercising authority?
What situations have I been praying about that God has instructed me to resist or command?
What does “reigning in life” look like practically for me right now?
